Our Twenty-Second Year • 1984 - 2006
MAEF, a nonprofit foundation incorporated in 1984, awards scholarships to gifted young artists and encourages them to seek careers in the visual arts.
The Maryland Artists Equity Foundation collaborates with:
-
The Howard County Department of Education, to facilitate its annual statewide competition and art exhibit. On April 28, 2006, MAEF will hold its 21st annual awards ceremony and present over $27,000 in tuition assistance and awards.
- The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), to provide need-based scholarships for Baltimore City’s junior high school students. MICA’s four-week summer pre-college studio residency program allows students to experience firsthand the challenges and excitement of college-level visual art study, while enhancing their portfolios and earning three college credits.
- Baltimore City art teachers, to award grants for art supplies to their high schools.
- The Baltimore Museum of Art, Walters Art Museum, and MICA, through its "Winners’ Circle" program, to afford past MAEF finalists continuing exhibition opportunities in these prestigious settings. This program allows MAEF to continue its connection with these individuals and follow their successful art-oriented careers.
- The Maryland Art Education Association, to create and administer teacher awareness programs. The goal is to improve teacher resources and initiatives. This will help students from all Maryland counties and Baltimore City enhance their portfolios and enter scholarship competitions.
MAEF is managed by volunteers and financed by community support.
